Theres plans to build an 8000sq.m, 24 hour Tesco store where the Clydesdale bank, the YMCA and CISWO are at present. This would involve demolishing all those buildings and relacating them to other parts of the town centre. The CISWO and YMCA are likely to move next to St. Columbas church and Crombies Bookmakers. Not sure bout the Clydesdale bank..? Tesco's is on hold just now as they cant get enough carparking for the size of store they want. Theres been talks of putting the store on stilts and having parking underneath, but Fife council arent supporting this as it would be out of place in glenrothes. This is whats delaying the project as tesco wont budge. I think it would be best to have the parking on the roof like in Kirkcaldy, and the new Tesco's in Milton Keynes. There have also been rumours of Debenham's looking to move to one of Fifes 3 large towns, but this is now looking to go to Dunfermline as theyre expanding the shopping mall there into what is currently the Bus station and Multistorey car park. Fife Council are now looking to make a master plan to redevelop Glenrothes Town Centre. What they have planned as yet i dont know...? Theres some info about it on the link below, www.kingdomshoppingcentre.co.uk/web/site/information/development.asp

Debenhams and 24 hour Tesco all seem very interesting , especially if you can walk into tescos at 2 in the morning

the kingdom centre is terrible unless of course you have to buy someone a birthday card, there are plenty of card shops. bring back coda, halfords, tandy and dixons! they were the only good shops that you could just go in to have a look around.

Thanks for that link mcwesty, I didn't know the kingdom centre had it's own site. It's even got quite a fancy flash shop directory here: www.kingdomshoppingcentre.co.uk/web/site/home/directory.aspUp to date too, Music Zone instead of MVC! I'd like to see a gadget shop, and a starbucks up there. Wonder if there's a market for starbucks in Glenrothes.......hmm....off to check out franchise opportunities.....

Tandy's!? I never like that store. Halfords and Dixons wont move back, theyve closed virtually all their town centre stores for out-of town retail park locations.
There are other shops looking to locate in Glenrothes, but there isnt the store sizes available for most of them. The town centre would need an extension to facilitate them. I know someone will say "what about all the empty units in the centre...?" but they arent the size of stores modern retailers are looking for, hence why they are empty.
Starbucks wont likely move to Glenrothes but ive been told from my sources that Costa are interested in moving into the Kingdom Centre. I want to see Debenhams move in along with a USC, a HMV, a Primark, a Zara, and a Waterstones.
The Saltire centres being extended with Comets or Curry's possibly moving in? Planning permissions been given to KFC to build a drive through at Bankhead next to the new hotel and petrol station.
To get more retailers in people in Glenrothes need to stop shopping in Kirkcaldy and spend more in Kingdom Centre. Thats partly why good shops dont move here, because people keep going elsewhere to shop. Support your town centre and good shops will come!

Costa isnt definate, ive just been told they are interested, as potentially are Debenhams, but they are probably only gonna build in Dunfermline which sucks.
The town needs more than just better shops, the town centre should be get a multiplex Cinema on the go, and the bowling alley should be made bigger and better and more modern.
Can I just ask by the way, when has the town centre ever been good or shops.....?

The council should offer all the businesses in the queensway new places in southfiled this would offer more space in the centre.
