Here's a nice letter from this weeks gazette concerning Fife's first gay marriage, which is at this link here if you're not up to speed: ( www.fifenow.co.uk/ViewArticle2.aspx?SectionID=1019&ArticleID=1254668) Sin, sin, sin eh? A little bit of google tells us that Rev. Gleason looks after the Glenrothes Free Baptist Church, which is in Queen Margaret Drive, near Warout. Here's their website: glenfreebaptist.co.uk/index.htm I like his biography bit, where he admits to a touch of insanity and that he thinks God has a sense of humour. No shit! Listen to you! I also enjoyed "ask the minister" where theres an essay piece on homosexuality and how he can help the gays overcome it. He must be pretty scared of them gays and their megalomaniac, religion overthrowing ways, lucky for him there aren't any in Warout eh? Jebus, it's like living in the dark ages.

and as an extra addition, here he is in a fantastic piece he wrote for the gazette which attempts to play down racially motivated crimes because victims are victims, after all, and motivation for crime, well its all the same really isn't it? glenfreebaptist.co.uk/racially.htmlthis guy is comedy gold, I'll be keeping an eye out for Mr Right-Wing Gleason in the Gazette from now on....

>> When God joins them together, the two become one flesh Aiee! Remind me never to tie the knot. That's horrific! I thought that sort of fusion only happened in the Chernobyl area. Be handy for dancing though.

You know, it never fails to amaze me how in tune with modern day thinking the church is. they're ever so open minded, forgiving, and utterly devoid of prejudice. You know it really baffles me that church going numbers are dropping. With guys like this holding the flag, you'd think the church would be brimming with spiritualy enlightened 21st century God lovers.

Ha ha!
His bile will probably only fall on the ears of the soon-dead - that's some consolation to us normal people.

hello! I'm a sucker for consistency, and when I read some of these letters that the people of Glenrothes have written in to the Gazette concerning this issue, I thought it would be only fair to include them in this thread. If you're not going to read them all, I'd recommend "Hijacked"... 1st up, the Rev's response, he's not an anti-homosexual campaigner... Rev, sometimes I really wish that your particular type of Christian would just feel absolutely free to leave people to their "mortal danger", and concentrate on something a bit more worthwhile than the preaching...

Next, an essay on tolerance from regular Gazette contributor "Ian Nimmo White"! He's affy quick to point out that he isn't one of them though, methinks he might protest too much? ... anyway...grand demonstration of knowledge of historical figures and nice insight into church change get him a b+ for this letter, keep on trying Ian!

Then there's this anonymous hardline piece, (he's thinking about the future of the human race here, so actually he's probably a humanitarian) - thanking Mr. Gleason for standing up for all us normal people. Aye, thanks Mr. Gleason.

and finally, my favourite - a local fairy tale writer who is incensed by having to reduce his vocabulary by two words and self-censors the word "God". I never want to meet this bloke, but just in case he reads this, heres a handy link: www.m-w.com/cgi-bin/thesaurus?book=Thesaurus&va=gay&x=0&y=0I have to admit, my brain starts thinking of coffee by the time I get halfway down the second column, and although I think he's talking about church vs state dynamics, I think the ultimate point of the letter is to confuse everybody who reads it into buying fairy books. some sort of Derren Brown thing..I need coffee.....

Do you want to be free? I would love to show you from the Bible how Christ can change your life. And, if you want, I can put you in touch with an organization that has helped others come out of a homosexual lifestyle, many of them into happy marriages. Please call me on 01592 744363 or email minister@glenfreebaptist.co.uk
Please feel free to contact the minister and let him know your thoughts. I think we should sign him up for a barriage of gay porn.

With MR Gleason in mind, I might well advertise a course to 'cure' bigotry; and while i'm at it, perhaps laughable superstition...

Whoa!!!! Just joined this site - and I know that this topic is a bit out of date, however!!!!! 1) Seems to me like the people of Glenrothes are a changing! Gone seems to be the bigotry and piss taking of the "gay" - I know the only posts come from a few people on this subject, but thank you.
Being gay myself, and also having done the "Civil Partnership" - or marriage for the normal man on the street this kind of thing really gets on my tits! These twats are so brain washed it hurts, and only know what they think they need to know. Do we comment on this fact to them or in news print? Nope!
I lived in Fife until I was 18. The reason I moved away was due to the muppetts that I went to school with mainly, due to the fact that even before I knew I was gay (and yes Mark, this is true!!) I used to be called every name under the sun, mainly because I looked after my appearance and did not enjoy sport. So, in a nutshell, I want to say well done, as is the case everywhere the pro-gay people (no, not just the actual gay community themselves) out weigh the anti-gay people, and no doubt would be quick to beat up an anti-gay kicking the shit out of a gay outside the weatherspoons on a friday night!
Well done, I won't be moving back, but it certainly makes me realise that people can change!
Please remove my soap box now! Thanks!

hi Scott, this one's from the back of the rack eh? I must have hosted all the images on my old webspace that I forgot to pay for, so they've all disappeared which is a shame, but probably makes me less vulnerable to libel lawsuits too... I reckon Glenrothes is a bit more tolerant these days, but I'd still avoid the Glenrothes Free Baptist Church if you're back on holiday. In fact I'd probably recommend everybody avoids the Glenrothes Free Baptist Church full stop... edit: I found them on the pc and uploaded them to some new space, now for the rest of the site......
