If the Ciswo are saying summer 09 for their new building, then Sainsbury's can't begin building until the ciswo have moved out, so it looks like another year before construction starts on Sainsbury's. Unless they go ahead and start building beforehand and leave the car park til last, as the car park will be going where the ciswo/ymca are now. Going by how long the Dalgety Bay Asda has taken to build, it has been about 1 year, and opens next week, and I think Glenrothes Asda and Sainsbury's are to be bigger, so we are talking at least 1 year for each. Just read somewhere that Sainsburys is opening Christmas 09 , so quite a bit later , so Asda will have a headstart .

Looks like they have eventually started work on the new Asda site after clearing the land months ago.
I noticed yesterday that there were a lot of cars parked along behind Raytheon and a site office in place behind McDonalds with a few JCB's at work.

It was funny seeing the papers yesterday. A lot of them had headlines of "Glenrothes is Lost!", regarding Labour having no chance of winning the by-election. ;D

LloydsTsb is getting a facelift along with air conditioning . It looks like Lloyds Tsb is keeping both the HBOS and Lloyds branches in Glenrothes.

ASDA received full planning permission last wednesday to develop their new store at Queensgate. It is expected to open between summer and xmas 2009. Shame the design of the stores really bland and boring but the jobs will likely be welcome in light of the credit crisis!

I noticed the design doesn't looks as good as what was previously touted , but it beats what Morrison looks like . Is this Asda store going to be open 24hrs , as I noticed that in the artists impression there doesn't seem to any 24hr logos .

The Safeway's/Morrison's store was designed to look like a 1920's airport. The new ASDAs just gonna be a big white shed, with no stand out entrance feature, with a glass front and wood on the corners.... Bit naff to be honest. Its the exact same design (only larger) as the store in Dunbar. No efforts been made what so ever. The new store in Dalgety Bay's nicer, it has a big wooden entrance feature. I don't know why the council never pushed for a nicer design...?
