Nickel & Dime has taken the lease on the old Co-Op Dept store .
I think it opens in a week or two as a lot of the stock is already on the shelves.
EDIT : They've taken the lease for 18months after which the Co-Op Department Store building is getting demolished .

Nickel "n" Dime opens this Wednesday . Rosebys has close down , and MFI is closing down . Oh that might mean they are about to start redeveloping and extending the Saltire Centre and add in the new roundabout off Caskieberran Road....? I read yesterday that the extension to the Fife central retail park in Kirkcaldy will see PC World, Toys R Us, B&Q and Argos move in. I'd hoped the new Tullis Russell retail park or the Saltire Centre extension were going to get it.

Unfortunately MFI went into adminstration , but it could pave the way for them to start re-developing the site as they wouldn't need to find a new home for MFI .

Possibly; they're about to do some major roadworks in the area from the Queensway roundabout, so it hopefully won't be too bad.

As far as i'm aware the saltire redevelopment was shelved. Anyway the new unit for MFI that was proposed won't be needed by the looks of it since they have gone into Administration.

Well looks like Woolworths will be closing in January. I wonder how long the unit will lie empty for. I did see on the news a couple of weeks ago that Tesco was buying a few of their stores. Could be an ideal unit for a Tesco Express. The closest Tesco is in Kirkcaldy and with the Asda being built as well as the Sainsburys whenever that goes ahead. I doubt it'll happen tho.

There's a possibility of Primark opening in the space where Woolworths are as they've also bought a lot of the stores.
In other news Scotmid is opening a store in Rimbleton (January 2009) and Good News Supermarkets is opening in North Street Retail Park.
